the commute

at around 7:15 am, i was in an auto towards brahmin's coffee bar

although it wasn't that easy getting an auto even in the morning, but namma yatri made it easier

as soon as the auto caught some speed, it was pleasantly cold; enough for me to want a jacket.

what people say about the weather in bangalore - turned out to be true - it was truly some good weather.

we reached brahmin's in half an hour, lined up and ordered everything on the menu - well, there were only 5 items.

paid the amount using UPI, like we Indians always do. The cashier didn't even care if we paid or not - something i noticed in bangalore was that people rarely do check if they've received the payment.

the place

there wasn't any space on the tables at the place - so we went to another seating area across the road, which had images of some successful people. we sat there, along with the food.

the place where we ate

people were jogging, kids were going to school, some were sipping on filter coffee. it felt like people were getting ready for the day - slowly; like the cold breeze of bangalore.

life felt good.

the food

we even got butter which was on the menu. apparently the butter was put on the idlis.

it was the best vada i had ever eaten, crispy and somehow it did melt in my mouth.

and the chutney wasn't confusing as there was only one. the green thick chutney was mandatory with every bite of idli, vada or khara bhat.

after a bite or two - i sipped on that beautiful frothy coffee in a transparent glass.

the coffee was similar everywhere and after each meal it was necessary to have coffee which made it 3 cups a day, sometimes 4.

i hadn't ever tried kesari bhat - so i did... and it was sweet?

did i mind? why would i?

more than the flavour - the smell made the dish more beautiful.

oh and don't forget the khara bhat. i tried it without the chutney first - it was scrumptious. and then had it with the chutney - made it even better.

it was truly - the best south indian food I've ever had.

we returned after booking an auto.

after i reached back to my room - i slept for an hour or two - very satisfied.

life felt good.

this was everything in the menu :)
